Hi Lisa. I suppose my biggest bit of advice for that would be to focus on learning more about UX methodologies and user behaviour, and at the same time build up as much coaching and mentoring experience as possible which will help you become an awesome leader! I’ve found that leading people doesn’t have to always be your day job…you can lead people through supporting the local content/design community and knowledge sharing too. Don’t let you current employer stifle your personal growth. Find ways to grow outside of work so you can make that leap :)
I’ve been in many roles where I have felt I am not fulfilling my potential but there are always helpful experiences to take away from those jobs when you move onwards and upwards.
